DPC Journal: Heritage Foundation Grad. Fellow Issues White Paper on the Direct Primary Care (DPC) Medical Practice Model

AUGUST 12, 2014 – Daniel (Danny) McCorry spent the summer as a Graduate Fellow in the Center for Health Policy Studies, of the Institute for Family, Community, and Opportunity, at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. He is also a BRI Student Leader from Georgetown University. BRI was proud to contribute to Mr. McCorry’s many recommendations during his application process.

One result of his work at The Heritage Foundation is a white paper on the Direct Primary Care (DPC) medical practice model, “Direct Primary Care: An Innovative Alternative to Conventional Health Insurance.” In this paper, McCorry details every aspect of this new and innovative way for doctors to serve their patients better, with more face time, lower costs, improved and less expensive services. Briefly touching on the history of healthcare post WWII, he points to some of the initial “quick fixes” that contributed to the healthcare mess today, and how DPC — also known as “Concierge Medicine,” or “Retainer Medicine” — solves many of these problems.
