RICHMOND, Va. (WVIR) – An alternative to the usual medical billing set-up is the hot topic tonight at the state capitol. A bill that could get traction again this year would support the growing movement of direct primary care.

The bill states that Direct Primary Care is not insurance and offers patient protections in the Direct Primary Care agreement requirements. Passage of this bill would provide reassurance for businesses who would like to offer access to Direct Primary Care for their employees. The bill has been supported by patients, physicians, and Virginia businesses, and has been opposed only by the insurance lobby. ~Comments of Story Section
“It finally came to me at one point that the problem was that we were working for the wrong employer. That is we had forgotten that we worked for patients,” said Dr. Garrison Bliss, chair of the Direct Primary Care Coalition.
