Aug 23, 2017, 3:43pm MDT – A Denver-based “direct primary care” company has raised $5.5 million to expand its number of locations and to launch a program of house calls. PeakMed, founded in 2014, offers around-the-clock access to patients who pay a flat monthly fee to the firm. Such direct primary care, a small but growing field in Colorado, allows patients to bypass insurers and create a relationship with physicians that is based on personalized care plans rather than on reaction to health emergencies. The company announced Wednesday that it has completed a $5.5 million fund-raising round led by ASI Capital Inc., a Colorado Springs private-equity firm with a focus on health care.
